Membership

Membership Types

The Quilon Law Library offers different categories of membership based on the type of users.

  • Students Membership

A person who is enrolled in any Law program is eligible for this type of membership. The membership tenure extends only up to the completion of the course.

  • Reading Membership

This type of membership suits the one who would like to visit the library solely for the purpose of reading. The tenure of the same is one year which has to be renewed if desired.

  • Ordinary Membership

Any person who is interested in the aims and objectives of the library shall be given this membership. The membership shall be for a tenure of one year after which it has to be renewed.

  • Permanent Membership

This is for those who would like to take a lifelong membership.

  • Honorary Membership

Members of this category are those:

  1. Who possess a high post in judicial service.
  2. Who holds a respectable position in society.
  3. Who have contributed a sum of Rs. 25,000 (Rupees twenty-five thousand) and above for the promotion and development of the library.

Membership Procedure

The membership form provided by the library has to be duly filled in and submitted to the librarian along with the prescribed membership fee.

Documents Required

Applicants for membership are required to furnish the following documents:

  1. Identity Card with photograph issued by the State / Central Government/Aadhar Card.
  2. Two stamp size photographs of the applicant.
  3. In the case of student membership, a copy of the identity card issued by the concerned educational institution has to be produced along with the above-mentioned documents.

Caution Money

At the time of membership, a refundable deposit of Rs.750 is collected as a security deposit.

Membership Fee /Registration Fee

It has to be remitted with the membership form.

  1. Student registration fee: Rs.300
  2. Reading registration fee: Rs.500
  3. Ordinary registration fee: Rs.750
  4. Permanent registration fee: Rs.5000
  5. Honorary registration ( No fee)

Subscription Fee

Monthly /Annual Subscription fee is as follows preferably as a one-time payment.

  1. For Student member Rs. 50 x 12 = 600
  2. For Reading member Rs. 100 x12 = 1200
  3. For Ordinary member Rs. 150 x 12 = 1800
  4. For Permanent member (Nil)
  5. For Honorary member (Nil)

Library Membership Card

Membership Card will be issued to each member on the completion of the admission procedure. The card has to be carried for each visit to the library.

No borrowing of Books will be done without the Card. The Card has to be produced whenever called for inspection by the library authority. This card is not transferable. In case of loss, it has to be intimated immediately to the librarian.

The user will be held responsible for any misuse of the Card before intimation. Duplicate Card will be issued on the payment of Rs.50 (fifty only).
